TOKYO DAY THREE: 森美術館與109辣妹的邂逅日

A Drowsy Morning

OMOTESANDO should turn on ladies’ eyes. But I don’t know why I feel so sleepy this morning. Maybe it is part of the terrible breakfast in Pronto located in the ground floor of Star Hotel building; maybe I am devoid of energy with no reason. No sooner had I walked in Omotesando Hills than I started to find the seat. Just give me one more coffee, please.

The pavement is very wide almost unobstructed; very comfortable to stroll. Well-known international luxury brands standing on both sides with distinctive architecture design increase thw aesthetic sense. Not like yesterday, today we learn to read the map; strike forward to
Roppongi (
六本木). Two hours later, I am really hungry and just want Japanese food only. As usual, we choose the place where we just pass by. No travel guide recommendation. I can say its aimless travel style is Ian’s style. So,

Tokyo homework I have done is useless sometimes.

浜の家 & Afternoon Tea

浜の家 seems friendly to people work around (note 1). I order Saba() which is the leading lady’s (character by Shinohara Ryoko,篠原涼子) favorite in TV drama, ハケンの品格. Ian’s 海鮮丼is yummy. Roppongi Hills is quite closed. We have afternoon tea in the hills building, to be honest, it’s the worst coffee I have in Tokyo. Milk froth is coarse and coffee is not strong enough. But service is good.

The
MoriArt Museum

In my route, The Mori Art Museum is must-go visit spot as Daikanyama(代官山) for Ian. Aim to contribute the growth of an audience and present diverse of artistic expression; the MoriArt Museum has a mission to promote contemporary art as most museums of contemporary art do. Current Exhibition “The kaleidoscopic eye: Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (T-B A21) Collection” tries to stimulate the public’s intellectual curiosity and the senses in myriad ways. I love contemporary art so much since I could question what the world I perceive is real or not. The combination of light, visual signal, sound, language and dynamic installations gives me courage to break down traditional boundaries, inspires my imaginations to see all the possibilities I have.

Tokyo
City
View

Go downstairs, it’s the time to take a panoramic view of Tokyo City. Remember I have mentioned that my visit at Taipei 101 Observatory in May? I am in different mood when I take 360° view of both cities. I have special feelings toward Taipei, my hometown. Tokyo for me is as Hemingway saying, “For Paris is a moveable feast.” I will definitely go back to Tokyo someday.

Daikanyama(代官山)

Evening walk starts from Ebisu(惠比壽) while it is dinner time. We decide to go uphill to Daikanyama(代官山), filled with many personalized and unique shops. Taking pictures when we find something interesting, opening your eyes to absorb what you have seen, it is not permitted to miss anything here. At 7:20 p.m., I could not walk anymore. Espresso and salmon toast supply me energy for next 20 minutes to Shibuya(澀谷), which is the cradle of fashion and vague and the youngsters gathering place. 8:30 p.m., we are finally arrive Shibuya.

Shibuya(
澀谷) with 109 Spicy Girl

Streets are bustling with noise and excitement. According to guile books, young performers show their brilliances in pubs, even in the street in Shibuya ku. Kind like Taipei, the locations near NationalTaiwanUniversity and NationalTaiwanNormalUniversity., there are always pubs and performance places for the young to pursue their dreams. Shibuya 109 is selling the trendy dress and accessories as you see in maginze ViVi etc. I have found very cute yellow clothes which models wear the same one in the Japan fashion magazine. Ever time when I try on, 109 spicy girl just gives a big smile and saysかわいいです. Smile is always the most advantageous weapon than any language. My dear professor has ever told me that. So, I take a picture with the smiling girl in front of the shop, Ruvap, 6F in Shibuya 109.

What’s the else we pass by? HMV might be a good place. Ian chose
湘南乃風which he wanted to buy when bicycling in Okinawa last year, but he didn’t. We purchase Namie Amuro(安室奈美惠) DVD + CD for Ian’s cousin.

品希
V.S.
生菓子

On the way back hotel, I go for oden (おでん)in the convenience store just opposite to our hotel. Of course, beer is necessary. When we get keys from concierge, he said that someone leave me things in the counter (You could know Star hotel is not a renewable hotel, they use key!!!). It’s Omiyage(生菓子) from 品希, my Durham schoolmate. We had a wonderful time in UK. After school, she just brought her favorite snack. She feels sorry that she does not have enough time to accompany us in Tokyo. But that’s ok.親愛的希妹妹, you are being too kind. We will still meet on Friday, remember that?
